Freda is a free ebook reading app for the Windows Phone, such as the Nokia Lumia, and Windows 8 PC’s. Freda (the name is a contraction of ‘Free Reader’) provides a wealth of options for reading EPUB books, including the ability to change type size, font, spacing, margins, layout and colour scheme, along with being able to customize the controls and gestures. You can also add bookmarks along with highlighting and annotating sections of text.
The application also allows you to search for words or phrases within a book, and to search online for definitions, translations (great for those wanting to learn a second language), and information related to any text element you may select.
As well as opening books from websites, Freda can access books on SkyDrive, DropBox, removable storage cards and site that use online OPDS catalogs such as Feedbooks and Smashwords.
Freda is principally intended as a reader program for EPUB files, but it can also read books in FB2, TXT and HTML format.
You can use the Freda app to read any non-DRM EPUB ebook on either a Windows Phones or Windows 8/RT PC, such as those found here on epubBooks. The process is very straight forward.
As you can see, the process is very easy and this is great for those on Window 8 PCs, and especially for anyone using a Windows Phone.
